アラスカ:2007年夏

天気が回復し、曇り空に薄日が見られる。朝の気温は５０Ｆであったが、日中は６０Ｆまで上がり、昨日に比べると遥かな快適ライド。それでも標高が高くなると５０Ｆ近くまで気温が下がり、北上していることを実感する。

アラスカハイウエイに繋がる97号線をひた走る。同ハイウエイは、通称"カリブーハイウエイ"。カリブーの看板を頻繁に見かける。

途中に交通の要所であるプリンスジョージ通過。アラスカハイウエイの基点であるドーソンクリークまで行く予定だったが、その60マイル程手前のチェトウインド泊。ＢＢタイプのモーテルＣ＄６７。

今日は燃費テストをする。55-60マイルに速度を定め走り続けると、残走行可能距離が450マイル程になる。200マイル走行時での残距離は200-230マイルと大体正確なのだがそれを越えると残距離が不安定になる。総走行距離が300マイル程と100マイル以上の誤差になる。

満タン法で燃費テストをすると、大体20キロ・リッターとなる。少なくとも、400マイル（600キロ強）は間違いなく確保できる。

ロングダートを低速（50マイル）すれば、500マイル（800キロ）は行けそうである。

It is much better weather than yesterday with some sun break in the mid day, though temp. is around 50-60 particularly low in the high elevation. Staying on Highway 97, keeping up to the north by passing Prince George and heading for Dawson Creek, but ended up with around 60 miles before at Chetwyond(C$67).

Gas consumption test is carried out today. Possible remaining distance on the computer indicator is not very accurate after 200 miles and consumption test is made by filling the gas method, resulting in about 20 km/liter showing possible riding distance of at least 400 miles (600 km) and possibly 500 miles (800 km) with decent speed.
